In a move that would make Al Capone blush, retail giant Dan Murphy's has turned its hand to hospitality, opening it's Hampton Street, Melbourne, Zero% bar - a bar with 30 cocktails, and 300 products, all either without alcohol, or ultra low in it. It's an emerging market, just 1000th the size of the alcohol market, but with 43% of drinkers wanting to reduce their drinking without reducing their enjoyment of a drink, Zero% shows them how. Could this trend also help hospitality, whose lunch trade suffers from a low average spend? 

UV rays carry more energy than visible light, however, most solar panels are designed to capture visible light, not UV. In 2020, a Philippine student found a way to capture UV energy, convert it to visible light and thus deliver conventional solar power. Better yet, his flexible resin (solar film), created from fruit & vegetable waste, can be applied just anywhere, including high-rises to create a vertical solar farm. The Comparative Anatomy series, 2009, is nickel-plated Britannia metal, approx 65cm high. “Rothwell has developed a practice that is both sculptural and two-dimensional, often using unique self-devised fabrication methods. She creates a fictional world, a geographical non place that is imagined but a logical consequence of real world actions. She uses a scientific focus to meditate on the follies of humanity, so that, her work can be seen as a grand macro-analysis, a scrutiny of human activity and its effects. Despite the gravity of her interests, they are approached with humour, erudition, economy and stylistic diversity.”   

A problem I found with the school and public buses that many students at my school were dealing with, was how overcrowded they were, and this has many negative impacts on the wellbeing of students and other passengers. My solution is to design a bus that reduces these negative impacts as much as possible. For example, I have taken inspiration from the honeycomb structure in my layout and seating design to maximise seating capacity, and included multiple aisles and entrances to reduce 'bottlenecks'. What would be most beneficial to my MDP, is feedback from people involved in public transport.

UN-IPCC scientists have unveiled an urgent plan that can limit the causes of dangerous climate change.First, the bad news - even with all current policies to cut carbon in place, we still face a 3.2C rise this century and our planet will suffer "unprecedented heatwaves, terrifying storms, and widespread water shortages".
