“We truly do have
a once-in-a-generation opportunity to recraft the kind of society we want to be
and the type of economy we need to achieve it.”
“We must be an
aspirational society that rewards hard work and puts money in the pockets of
ordinary Australians, and an entrepreneurial society where we can keep and
attract the best and brightest.”
Jennifer Westacott (The Australian 27/4/20)
As personal protective equipment in hospitals is in short supply these days, figuring out ways to reduce the exposure of medical workers to coronavirus patients while treating them at the same time is essential to ensure the safety of those best equipped to combat the pandemic. Turning robots into medical helpers could be one way to approach that.Boston Dynamics has added custom designed mounts to its dog-like Spot robot, turning it into a mobile telemedicine platform, which has been interfacing between doctors and patients in a Boston hospital for several weeks.https://www.optimistdaily.com/2020/04/these-life-like-robots-are-helping-frontline-medical-staff-keep-safe/
A coronavirus tracing app, called COVIDSafe, has been released in Australia to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic. The app is considered to be essential for Australia to be able to ease coronavirus-induced restrictions.
After you download the app you will be notified if you have had close contact with another user who tests positive for COVID19.
The app has two stages of consent that you would need to agree to: initially when you download the app so data can be collected, and secondly to release that data on your phone to health officials if you are diagnosed with the virus.
Australia's Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nurse and the heads of the doctors' and nurses' unions said they will download the app and encourage you to do the same.
