The multi award-winning PACE (Professional and Community Engagement) program is offered to all undergraduate students at Macquarie University and is a vital part of their career preparation. Through PACE they go beyond the classroom to apply their learning in practice. They undertake a practical activity with one of over 3,000 partner organisations across Australia and around the world to learn from industry leaders in their chosen field, gain vital contacts, and develop the employability skills they need to start their careers. IdeaSpies is proud to partner with PACE and engage two enthusiastic interns interested in learning more about innovation. They have also provided two teams to work on the prototype of an app for IdeaSpies! https://www.mq.edu.au/study/why-study-here/employability/learning-for-li
Wild Me is introducing an innovative program where citizen science and high technology are combined to fight the extinction of wildlife. Microsoft AI is the technology that uses the algorithm to distinguish the pattern of an animal?s physical appearance, for instance, skin pattern and scars. This program would not be completed without the help of citizen science and researchers who actively seek the existence of the living creatures and record them. For example, the data shows that Wild Me succeeded in identifying 10 times more whale sharks than ever recorded. https://www.wildme.org/

There are products like battery operated bats available in the market to kill mosquitoes and insects but there is no battery-less innovation. My invention is very simple and very effective in killing mosquitoes as there is no need for recharging the battery of this mosquito bat. Only a bat and adhesive tape are required to build it. It will work to by trapping and killing mosquitoes. Salient features: (1) there is no need for recharging it. (2) the adhesive tape can be removed and replaced after use. (3) it is a very low cost design so anyone can afford it very easily. (4) it is safe and light weight (5) it can be used many times.
Grail is on a quest to detect multiple types of cancer before symptoms, via a single, simple blood test. The test looks at cell-free plasma to find fragments of so-called circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) sloughed off by cancer cells. Detecting cancer sooner ? before symptoms ? means you can intervene earlier and people are less likely to die. http://www.inkl.com/newsletters/morning-edition/news/could-we-soon-be-able-to-detect-cancer-in-10-minutes?
